Wallets and Currency Accounts

What's the difference between a wallet and an account?

A wallet allows you to hold, send, and exchange money in a particular currency.

A currency account gives you account details that can be used to receive payments from 3rd parties, and those account details are available for that currency.

Your wallet is available once you've completed the relevant verification. Some currency accounts require additional information or documents before they can be opened.

Which currency wallets are available to me?

The currencies available to you depend on your country and the products available in your market.

Foren supports multiple currencies, including British Pound (GBP), US Dollar (USD), Kenyan Shillings (KES), Canadian Dollar (CAD), Nigerian Naira (NGN), West African CFA Franc (XOF), and Central African CFA Franc (XAF), subject to availability and eligibility.

How do I open a currency account?

Once your identity has been verified:

Accounts → Add currency → Select your preferred currency

The app will show which currencies are available to you and whether any additional information or documents are required.

Why is my currency account request still pending?

Some currency accounts require additional checks or information before they can be opened.

We'll contact you if we need anything from you. Your request will remain open while you provide the requested information.

The applicable review timeframe depends on the currency and the checks required.

Why do you need a bank statement for my USD account?

Some currency accounts may require additional information to meet the requirements of our banking partner. You are asked for a recent bank statement to show the source of your funds or regular income.

The app will tell you what document is required and the applicable date range.

Can I have more than one currency account?

You can hold multiple supported currencies, subject to eligibility.

You can have one account per currency.

Can someone else send money into my Foren account?

Yes, where the relevant payment method supports third-party payments.

However, payments from someone other than the account holder may be subject to additional checks. We may ask you to explain the purpose of the payment or provide supporting information.
